The street was closed down and the red carpet rolled out for the big Hollywood premiere of the movie adaptation of The Art of Racing in the Rain. There’s too much coverage all over the internet to keep up with here, but here’s a quick peek at some of the images.

Can’t wait to see it! I loved this book when i read it, and bought multiple copies as a result of sharing it with others. Glad it is getting renewed interest.
Someone on Facebook said they weren’t going to see it because their dog had recently crossed the. Rainbow bridge. I told them that was all the more reason TO see it!
Congratulations!!

I’m thrilled to see this beautiful book’s journey. In translating to the screen, its brilliant themes of resiliency, commitment, dedication and passion become accessible to new audiences. I’ve come across precious few works that made me want to celebrate the simple joys of being alive – “To live every day as if it had been stolen from death, that is how I would like to live. To feel the joy of life, as Eve felt the joy of life. To separate oneself from the burden, the angst, the anguish that we all encounter every day. To say I am alive, I am wonderful, I am. I am. That is something to aspire to.”
Well done, Garth. Very well done.

I just completed reading The Art of Racing in the Rain and I count it as one of my favorites. That is high praise because I read a lot of books after Teaching English for 41 years in Wisconsin. Maybe it is because I am a passionate dog owner, an avid race fan, a person who looks for great messages to share with others, or a reader of great literature, but this book truly speaks to me. It is a book with humor, sadness, anger, hope, and life. I started the book Saturday afternoon and finished it Sunday afternoon while I was sitting and watching the IMSA race at Road America. My attention was constantly pulled from turn five in the woods to read another few chapters. That is also high praise for your writing. Almost nothing pulls my attention from a race; however, I felt I needed to let the car go where my eyes wanted to go. In this case it was your book.
My wife read the book in a day as well. We plan to see the movie this weekend and wanted to make sure we read the book first. Thank you so much for writing this book. I plan to share it with many.

They definitely picked the RIGHT “Enzo” Saw him “hamming it up” on EntTonight. The only thing missing were the SMELLS (gas, castor oil, searing exhaust headers, hot tire compound, and sweaty Nomex!)

Garth,
Great photos! Spoke to Lisa earlier this evening. I’m sure that these past couple of weeks and the next few will be a whirlwind for you and your family. Getting several couples together for the Friday night opening here in Jacksonville. Still hoping to get you to the Amelia Island Concours in March. Stay sane.

Read the book several years ago and loved it. Considered it one of the best ever. Just saw the movie tonight and loved it. A real tear jerker especially for us dog owners. We own a german shepherd who thinks she is human too. Please continue writing Garth. Can’t wait for your next novel.

Loved the book…Loved the movie! Thank you to all involved in bringing Garth’s characters and message to life. The movie evoked the same affection for Enzo; heartbreak, sadness, anger, hope for all that Denny, Eve and Zoe endured; thought provoking approach to life through racing skills and strategy, that the book impressed on me. Garth, thank you for the story and your fantastic writing skills. Patrick, so greatful you were the one to purchase the rights and see that the movie was made in the way it was. Milo and Amanda you were the Denny and Eve I imagined. Kevin, you were the perfect familiar, comforting, voice for Enzo. The other cast members were terrific also.

I am quite sure I have never seen a movie that has affected me like The Art of Racing in the Rain. I read the book when it first came out and the movie has brought all the characters to life for me like no other movie. I absolutely believe that dogs are gifts from God, sent down to take care of us until he calls them back. For me, Enzo definitely lives on and will. People genuinely do not truly understand the relationships we have with our pets.
What a wonderful story, book and movie.
